Themed Places: Disney's Pleasure Island & Downtown Disney
Before it was Disney Springs it was Downtown Disney, Before Dowtown Disney it was known as the Disney Village Marketplace, before that it was known as the Walt Disney World Village and before that the entertainment district at Walt Disney World was known as the Lake Buena Vista shopping Village all the way back on March 22, 1975. The original purpose of the Lake Buena Vista Village was to serve the residents of the Original concept for EPCOT, The Experimental Prototype City Of Tomorrow was originally to be a hybrid park/residence where companies would showcase new innovations that were on the cutting edge and the city was to be a glimpse of the progress always going on in the world, This was one of Walt Disney's biggest passion projects before his death and although other plans from Walt's "Florida Project" did eventually go through, In walts absence the original plan of EPCOT was reworked into what it is today.
The Village would then be reworked into the Walt Disney World Village in 1977 and the new idea was to attract visitors of Walt Disney World and it was to become an entertainment hub with the idea to "Keep guests on property" by providing nightlife, shopping and restaurants outside of the parks.
In the late 1980's clubs began popping up in Downtown Orlando and Disney CEO Michael Eisner was looking to attract young adults to the resort, which had a reputation around the younger crowd of being for kids. Disney would announce plans for Pleasure Island in 1986, Eisner thought if others were doing night clubs that Disney would do it except they'd do it better.

This show is one of my earliest TV memories (most of my earliest memories are TV memories; really set the tone for my life so far). I loved this show. I had no idea that it started in Columbus. I watched this show way down in the heart of Dixie so from that and the dates I didn't see it until it was produced in New York. However I have now spent the latter half of my life so far living just north of Columbus. Likewise I didn't realize it had jumpstarted Nickelodeon, so indirectly influencing much of the rest of my childhood viewing: Today's Special, Grimm's Fairy Tales, *David the Gnome,* Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea, *The Mysterious Cities of Gold,* and the "successor" Eureeka's Castle -and that's just the stuff before Nicktoons popped up. Thanks for making this video and sharing this information. It's been quite a trip down memory lane.

I forgot that The Mistery Files of Shelby was on Nick. Also, I forgot that Adam Busch played her best friend, Noel. He was so good at being bad on Buffy. I've met him a couple of times at his band's shows, and he so sweet. I told him I was a huge Buffy fan and was trying not to fan girl and that I think his band, Common Rotation, was ALOT better than the main act. He told me he got it because he fan boyed when he met an actor from The Wire. Then he told my friend and I that we could stay for the second act for free. He's a truly nice guy. A few months later, my friend and I went to a free concert up in Harrisburg and he remembered us and gave us the set lists at the end of the show. Good job, Nick, you helped make a real standup guy.

The best eras for many cartoon shows of Cartoon Network that came out in large numbers would always be the iconic and golden eras that peaked at best during the years between 1995-2010 nostalgic childhood memories of our road trip nostalgia that we grew up during those good old days of nostalgic memories that marked our childhood. Nothing can beat the classic cartoon shows of iconic to golden eras from Cartoon Network.

I was actually born in 1979 in Missoula Montana and my mother used to take me to a babysitter's house where along with several other children, we would be watched by a woman who always had Pinwheel playing on her television set for us to be entertained by. That wholesome show is a definite staple of my childhood and I only wish those types of child oriented shows were still around today. They sure don't make children's shows like they used to! ~Dutch

My childhood Disney show. Out of all the shows Disney has given us over the years, this is the 1 that stood out to me the most. My family & I even saw Bear when we went to Walt Disney World back in 2005.

I loved this show. It was so crazy and chaotic. Honestly, the whole block of kids shows on hbo was top tier. The perfect example of making educational show that doesn't make you feel like you're learning
